Farewell, Friends

July 30, 2010 — Leave a comment

Many of you know by now that a C-17 crashed yesterday at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.  All four crew members were killed.  At least one of them was a friend of mine from my previous assignment.  I am still waiting to learn the names of the other three.  This is the first fatal crash in C-17 history.

Godspeed, my friends.  What a devastating loss to our community.  Our hearts and prayers go out to the families.

UPDATE: Names have been released.  A tribute to these four airmen can be found here.

FURTHER UPDATE: A tribute to my squadron mate Maj Michael Freyholtz is here.
